I have volunteered, advocated and donated to United Way of Cape Fear Area (UWCFA) since 2008 because I continue to see strong impact in our community. I’ve served as a campaign organizer in the workplace many times over and as a volunteer on the UWCFA board for the last five years. My husband volunteers with a team to review grant proposals and make tough decisions about where UWCFA money goes. We give a donation and we give more than we think we can each year. Because when you hear from kids at the Boys and Girls home about how they were abandoned then saved, when you hear from federal employees about how they were fed by Nourish NC when they had no paycheck, when you see kids smile and play at a park once deemed too dangerous, you will WANT to give. Local nonprofit agencies need a strong United Way to offer great services. Your donation to UWCFA will help ensure that we can more fully award grants to our prospective partners chosen by our volunteer investment committees. Partners like Kids Making it, Communities in Schools, Cape Fear HealthNet, Brunswick Family Assistance, WARM, Good Shepherd Center, Carousel Center, and over 40 more, rely on UWCFA grants to continue the work they do every day to change lives in the Cape
Fear Area. So, get involved. And, please, give today. [PHOTO BY MATT BORN/STARNEWS
